Gary Vaynerchuk stated that doing businesses is significantly simpler in the digital era than it was in the past. In all his Facebook videos, Gary outlines that the Internet streamlines any business.
He is right, but the Internet has created harsh competition; the market is nothing more than a jungle where only the strongest players survive and make a profit. As a result, entrepreneurs perpetually seek solutions to optimize their affairs. For instance, the print-on-demand concept was developed to save investing too much capital into stockpiles.
Print-on-demand is a genuinely game-changing idea. You don’t have to order products in bulks that might be or might not be liked by customers. Instead, the products are manufactured when the client orders them. It seems that Vaynerchuk’s ideas aren’t wrong at all.
In the next lines, I will show you how to start selling custom products on your online shop. All you have to do is focus on selling—production and shipping are the jobs of Printify. Perhaps it is not a stellar, multi-million-dollar business idea, but you can use it to generate a pretty substantial revenue.
Printify is a business solution that automates production and shipping. Let’s suppose that you sell custom products like T-shirts, hoodies, kids apparel, phone cases, towels, wall decals, notebooks, and pillows. Printify takes care of ordering and shipping. Such a tool saves you a lot of time and resources.
An active solopreneur can run an online store alone and sell custom products by using Printify. Otherwise, additional team members are mandatory to manage order fulfillment. It’s not an exaggeration to say that Printify replaces the work of an active employee.
Currently, Printify works for Shopify and WooCommerce stores. Etsy users should also take a look at Printify because the team behind it had made it compatible with Etsy too.
Printify’s Advantages
Is Printify the best solution for your store? The answer massively relies on your type of e-commerce activity, but anyone selling custom products can’t neglect the next features.
You can show off your design skills by designing a variety of products. Men’s and women’s T-shirts, cups, home décor items, accessories, and many others products are available for you to plan and impress people. You can explore the Product Catalog and the brands linked to Printify.
Your primary responsibility is to create excellent designs for your products; Printify does the rest of the tasks. However, Printify does give you a helping hand with creating cool custom-designed products. The Mockup Generator is a great tool to let your ideas flourish and amaze your customers.
Customizing the products is intuitive and simple. Select your favorite product—in this example, I went for a men’s T-shirt (Next Level, 3600). Depending on your product, you will have to select the print provider and click the “Start Designing” button.
At this stage, you are in the Edit Mode, and from the upper menu, you can sort the color of the product and its size. Next, you can customize the different parts of the product.
Finally, go to Preview Mode and see how your custom product looks.
In the end, the margin of your business is what really makes it grow. Naturally, you want to have full control over pricing. Printify has a smooth process for setting the prices of each product.
After you finish the custom design of the product inside the Mockup Generator, you will have to add a product description. Printify will generate a description for each of your products, but you can add your personal contribution.
Next, you are required to establish the prices. You set the retail price based on the cost of the raw product. Anytime you modify the price, you can see how the profit changes.
Printify doesn’t print your product. Instead, it partners with top-class print providers, so you can choose a printer based on location, price, or quality. The print providers are from China, the United States, and the United Kingdom. This arrangement makes Printify compatible with any location on the map.
The above features could make you think that Printify is a premium, pay-to-use tool. The truth is that Printify is free! Printify takes a commission from printer providers anytime you sell a product. There is no monthly fee or hidden commission, so you have all the reasons to start selling your custom products.
I assume that you have already installed the WooCommerce plugin on your site. Here are the steps to take to set up Printify and make sales.
Registering on Printify is easy-peasy. All you need is a valid email address, your store name, and its business address.
Head to your Printify account and go to My Stores and click on Connect. You will have to select between Shopify and WooCommerce. In our case, click on WooCommerce and add the URL address of your store. Next, you will have to approve Printify’s access to your store.
Let’s go back to your WordPress store dashboard and go to WooCommerce > Settings > API. Tick the Enable REST API checkbox and click Save changes.
Printify isn’t compatible with plain permalinks types. Head to Settings > Permalinks and choose any option you want except plain.
Go to WooCommerce > Settings > Shipping and click on Printify Shipping. Check both boxes (Enable this shipping method and Disable standard WooCommerce rates for products fulfilled by Printify). Save your work and be proud of yourself because you connected your store to your Printify account!
Certainly, Printify is a useful tool for anyone interested in selling custom-designed products. However, nothing man-made is perfect, and Printify has its flaws. Fortunately, these issues are insignificant compared to Printify’s advantages.
Integration with Other E-commerce Platforms: Printify is compatible with Shopify and WooCommerce, the leading e-commerce platforms. Recently, it is compatible to work with Etsy stores too. However, there is a substantial market share that is ignored. I expect that for Printify to be compatible with Amazon; it will undoubtedly boost the number of entrepreneurs using this tool.
A (Still) Not Rated WordPress Plugin: This isn’t a Printify flaw, but it’s a thing you should monitor. Usually, a new WordPress plugin has bugs, and the Printify plugin for WooCommerce is freshly launched.
On the other hand, the Shopify app is rated five out of five stars, and the reviews all praise the app. Clearly, it’s a successful app, and it makes me think that the WordPress plugin released probably is no different.
In conclusion, Printify has all it needs to be number one on your list of the best tools for custom-designed products. No matter if your business runs on Shopify or WooCommerce, Printify does the same great job.
Have you ever used Printify? It would be great to have your input, so please leave a comment sharing your personal experiences.
