In this tutorial you will learn how to create an Electric Guitar in Adobe Illustrator. You will learn how to create the shapes that form the electric guitar, apply gradients and some other effects to give it a 3D appearance.

Let’s see what you will be creating in this tutorial.

Create an Electric Guitar in Illustrator

First, let us open a new document. To open a new document you will go to File > New. When you click on New a new document will open. As shown in the image above, we will name the file and then we will input the size of the artboard. One thing that we should always remember is to set the color mode in the document to RGB, so that the image looks like an original image.

Lets start our tutorial and lets first make the centre part of the guitar, as shown in the image below.

Make a line drawing first

After making the shape make one more shape under it, as shown in the image below.

Now fill color in this shape.

Similarly fill grey color in the 3D shape.

Now on the black color copy one more layer. You can use this short cut Ctrl+C and then Ctrl+F, so this way black layer is copied and pasted over it. Now fill gradient color in this layer, the value is mentioned in the image below. Remember in this one side is filled with white color and other side is transparent which means no color is filled in it.

Now the 3D shape of the guitar is ready, now we’ll draw one more shape over it so that we can give it more realistic look.

Now fill this shape with orange color, values are mentioned in the image below.

Now go to Effect>Blurr>GuissionBlurr

A window will appear in front of you which is shown in the image below.

This way image will have the blurr look. Example is shown below.

Seeing this process we’ll make one more shape and place it in the center of the guitar.

So this way the lower part of our guitar is ready, now lets start working on the next step. We’ll start working on this part of the guitar now. It is marked in the image below.

First make an ovel shape and fill it with gradient color. The value is mentioned in the image below.

Make one more shape over this shape.

Fill the gradient in this shape which we have just made. The values are shown in the image below.

Now we’ll draw one more ovel over this shape.

Fill this shape with the gradient color mentioned below.

Now we’ll copy-paste this whole group at 4 places on the guitar.

Now lets work on this part

First make a shape.

Now we’ll give it a 3D shape, to give 3D shape make one more shape under it

Fill it with basic grey color. There is no need to give it values.

Over this shape place 2 circle boxes, and fill them with gradient too.

Now place it over the guitar , and similarly we have made the second shape. It is marked in the image below.

Lets move forward and make the buttons

To make buttons draw this shape.

Fill the color shown below in this shape. Fill black color inside and on the outer part fill the color shown in the image below.

Go here after filling the color.

After clicking on this option you’ll get a window in front of you, insert the values shown below in this window.

After filling the values the shape will appear something like this.

Now place white circle over this shape.

The bottom part of this shape is made in the same manner too, you can do it easily yourself.

Now place this button on the shape of the guitar.

You can see a white color shape on the side of buttons. We’ll draw this shape its filled with simple gradient color. You can make this easily.

Now we’ll make the upper part of the guitar. So lets make the shape shown below.

Now we’ll fill gradient color in this shape.

To fill the gradient color use the values shown below.

After filling the gradient the image will look like this.

Now on this panel we’ll place small small white color shapes, you will have to make these shapes as I have done.

After placing the small-small boxes our image will look something like this.

Now with this shape draw one more shape.

Now fill gradient color in this shape, as shown in the image below.

Now place this shape under the panel.

Now we’ll make the upper part of the panel.

We’ll make a shape first, but keep the orientation in mind while making the shape. To do so you can download the sample file from the tutorial that will give you a better idea as how to draw the shape.

Now in this shape fill the black and grey color. This will give a 3D look to the shape.

Lets make a shape now as shown in the image below.

Fill this shape with 10% grey color.

Now go here

A window will appear in front of you, insert the values mentioned below in this window.

After putting in the values the shape will look like this.

Now place this object over the black shape as shown in the image below.

Similarly we’ll make the buttons of the other side.

To make this first make the shape shown below and fill it with 10% gradient color.

Now select this shape and go here.

Insert the values shown in the image below.

After putting the  values the image will look like this.

Now make one more shape just next to it.

Put 3D shape in this too.

Group it now and paste it over the shape.

So this way the upper part of the guitar is ready too.

Now we’ll join this panel and the bottom part of the guitar.

Lets make wires on this panel now.

To make the wire we’ll use pen tool and draw lines using it and fill it with grey color. Once you are done with it our guitar is ready. Now we can work on the stand of this guitar. To make stand lets make some shapes.

These white color shapes are made using the pen tool. The process to make the shiny guitar holder shown here is given below. But lets first draw these white shapes.

Fill these white shapes with black color, but the shape which is marked with the arrow fill it with 2 colors, one is dark gray and other is light gray which you can coose.

To make the holder we’ll first make a stroke and fill it with black color. Give stroke size 5.

Copy this shape and press Ctrl+F to paste it. After pasting change the color of the stroke and give stroke the size 0.25. It will look like this.

Select these 2 strokes and go here.

So this way it will be blended and gives a 3D look,as shown in the image below.

We have used the same process to make the remaining stand. You can do it now easily. So this way our electric guitar is ready and it will look something like this.
