Watercolor is considered the most difficult painting media because of technique, control and time factors. But in the marketplace, usually watercolors are less expensive than oil paintings. Oil paintings have a higher prestige value and many of the old masters only painted in oil. What makes an old oil painting valuable? What is the main consideration?
Oil painting is the process of painting with pigments that are bound with a medium of drying oil. Traditional oil painting techniques often begin with the artist sketching the subject onto the canvas with charcoal or thinned paint.
Main reason why oil paint is considered more valuable is the surface, watercolor is usually done on paper, not so valuable and easily bent/crumpled. oil is done on canvas, linen, panel, and surfaces that are usually long lasting and expensive and rather sometimes very large.
In this showcase, let’s take a look at the works of some of the world’s greatest photorealism masters like Roberto Bernardi, Pedro Campos, Tjalf Sparnaay, Erich Christensen, Steve Mills, and many more.

Passing by these amazing 3D paintings will make you almost believe that there are real people standing by the wall. The paintings are made in such a way that you would probably try to touch the girl that’s leaning on the wall or maybe the old lady that’s resting, because they seem so realistic.

Michael Peck’s artistic practice is concerned with the sensation of disorientation and dislocation that is often felt within the post modern world. The scenes in Michael’s paintings are quiet, the participants are paused as they stand withdrawn, juxtaposed against a dynamic population; they are overwhelmed by mass-culture.
Ericzener work reflects our collective desire for transformation into something ideal. His exploration seek to create a sense of sanctuary, often using figure in water, sleep, journeys and nature as a metaphor for renewal and reprise.

Super-realistic vector illustrations that should break that misconception if you still hold it. While it takes considerable work, it is possible to create complicated images that, to the untrained eye, are indistinguishable from life.

This is a great pieces of art made by Odwin Rensen. His work is really amazing and realistic.
These are some examples of the photorealistic paintings of the artist which look natural like a photograph. The evolution of technology has brought forth photorealistic paintings that exceed what was thought possible with paintings. These newer paintings by the photo-realists are sometimes referred to as Hyperrealism.
Hope you enjoyed and inspired a lot!
WOW! Are these for real? There is so much talent around the world. Keep up with good posting. Hats off for this list.
Skillful work, but there is nothing creative about taking a photograph and then re-painting it.
Nope, not creative but definitely skillful as you said.
My name is Pat Thompson. I smudge painted many of the photographs contained on this page. To be honest, I don’t consider myself to be a creative person or an artist. I simply used the smudge tool in Photoshop to overpaint the photograph,so that in some cases,at least, the image looks like it was painted rather than photographed. I did process most of the images in Photoshop in order to achieve a more vibrant and/or sharpened look. Just, for the record, though, I think it is important for me to say that it is the photographers who provided great images that deserve a ton of gratitude. And I would never ever classify myself as an artist or suggest that what I do is Art. Anybody who owns a photo editing program and who was willing to take the time to practice using the tools in their program could do the same thing and probably do it better.
Awesome collection.Great Photo-Realistic Paintings.I really enjoy these photo show. Thanks for sharing.

Bo, it’s not creative work. It’s painting from a photograph. Taking the actual photograph is the creative part.

Those are paintings? Unbelievable! After a closer look I can distinguish some of them as paintings but rest of them look like photographs. That was amazing! I like The Silver Bangle the most.
